Ely Tog Meetup — Model Photo Session in Chettisham
I’d been toying with the idea of joining a local photography group for a little while, but due to my erratic schedule, I wasn’t sure how often I’d be able to attend.
I didn’t want to join a group that might take issue with my lack of attendance so put it to one side.
Then I discovered the Meetups app on my phone and remembered someone (I forget who,) had recommended it to me. Meetups is pretty much as it sounds — a social network for people with similar interests, who meet up in real life and get together to do projects etc.
I found several photography groups and joined a couple. The Ely Togs group were going to have a meetup in about a week’s time, and it was to shoot 2 models at a studio in Chettisham, which is just up the road from where I live.
The models were Elena Tun, who’s portfolio I’d seen online and marked her as someone to work with, and the other was Amber Tutton, whose face graces the top of my website.
Once I’d found the place, I talked with some of the other photographers, who were all very friendly. Then part of the group split off to shoot Amber outside in the last of the dying light. Amber, ever the professional, dealt with the multiple photographers like a champ, making sure each one of us got some face time.
We went back inside as dusk settled in and took it in turns to shoot either Elena or Amber in the studio, which was well kitted out and set up with interesting backdrops.
In all I did four shoots between the two models, with costume and background changes, got some excellent shots and considering the whole thing cost me £10, I’ll be looking forward to the next one! Thanks to Dean Ireland for organising!
